I’ll make this one short and sweet: Steroid and PED users are disgraced. It appears that most, if not all, of the users will never be inducted into the Hall of Fame. So, how much was it worth to those players? Was it worth throwing your reputations away? What is your integrity worth? Well now, let’s see:
Alex Rodriguez estimated career earnings to date: $325,000,000
Barry Bonds Rodriguez estimated career earnings to date: $188,000,000
Roger Clemens Rodriguez estimated career earnings to date: $150,000,000
Sammy Sosa Rodriguez estimated career earnings to date: $124,000,000
Look at those numbers, and tell me that it wasn’t worth giving up a plaque in Cooperstown. Would they have forfeited $40 or $50 million dollars for a decrease in stats, but a better reputation with a shot at the Hall of Fame? Is that plaque worth millions? I’m sure all steroid and PED users would like to be considered for the HOF and have their reputations restored. I’m sure they’re very upset sitting in their yachts, or mansions, or in their Jaguars thinking about what they’ve done. Those poor ballplayers. Were all those millions worth the stained reputation? Were the inflated numbers worth the inflated paychecks, even if it cost you your reputation. I’m sure all of those players would tell you: hell yes it was worth it. Sure we can knock all of the cheaters in the game. But look at their bank accounts and lofty style of living, then tell me….who has the last laugh?
